Making "Leaf Piles"

Ingredients:

6 c. cornflakes

1 c. peanut butter

1 c. corn syrup

3 smiling 5 year olds :-)

1. Pour cornflakes into a LARGE bowl

(prevents cornflakes from flying all over the table :P)

2. Use a spoon to measure out heaping scoops of peanut butter into the measuring cup.

3. Shake wrist repeatedly in an attempt to get the sticky peanut butter off the spoon and into the bowl.

4. Measure the corn syrup into the peanut butter-coated measuring cup.

5. Pour the slow-moving corn syrup into the peanut butter bowl.

6. Watch expectantly as the peanut butter and corn syrup mixture is melting in the microwave.

7. Oooooh and Aaaaaah as the mixture is poured into the cornflakes.

8. Begin the strenuous task of mixing the cornflakes and peanut butter mixture together.

9. Put your heads together as you allow the delicious aroma of peanut butter to waft up your nostrils :D

10. Smile expectantly at your teacher as she takes pictures of you with your very own "leaf piles".

11. Put the "leaf pile" containers in the refrigerator so the piles can cool off and form together.

12. Admire the delicious "leaf pile" formations after they have been in the refrigerator for awhile. (well, maybe just the teacher does this :P)

13. Smile at the teacher before you take a bite of your delicious treat.

14. Say "mmmmmmmm" at least 5 times while enjoying your "leaf piles".

This recipe was discovered on this website, my "best friend" when looking for creative activities to do with young children. Especially when I was doing my ECE classes and student teaching in college, I knew I could always depend on this website to help me find ideas for art projects, cooking activities, science activities, dramatic play activities and more! Everything is divided up into themes which makes it a lot easier to find specific activities. Go and check it out sometime!
