Our Play Dough I's & Do-A-Dot Art

I brought in some homemade play dough today. We were reviewing the letter Ii, so I told the girls that before they could get out the special play dough toys, they had to make capital I and little i. Of course, I "bribed" them by promising I would take a picture of them with their I's. :-) After they were done making their I's, they were free to create whatever they wanted with the play dough toys. If you are my friend on Facebook, you can view more pictures here of some of their play dough creations!

 Some of the girls decided to do some "Do-A-Dot" paint art today. Now our 'Class Projects' bulletin board actually has some projects on it!

Last Official Summer Adventure

Yesterday a friend and I spent the day in Ocean City, NJ. I LOVE going to any beach, but this place holds a special place in my heart as my family used to go here every year when I was little. It was such a gorgeous day! It was so nice to just sit out on the sand, chat and listen to the waves and seagulls.

Now I *think* I am ready for summer to end, and a new school year to begin!

Conquering the Classroom Closet

This little door in the corner of the classroom looks so innocent...

Can you believe all of THIS was behind that door??!!

Oh yes, I have been putting off organizing this closet (can you understand why??!!)

Now after 2 afternoons of organizing, everything has it's place again...whether it is back in the closet, or in the dumpster!

I was so happy to see the floor of my classroom again!

That sure felt good to cross off my to-do list!!
Now on to the next thing.....

Getting Ready!!

After a year of taking a break from blogging, I am back!! The reason being - I am teaching Kindergarten again!!! I can't wait to share all the fun activities we will be doing this year on this blog.

This is a place for me to record all the fun happenings, cute quotes and memories made. Also, it is a place for parents and friends to get a glimpse of what happens inside the Kindergarten classroom every week.

This year I am blessed with 6 students - ALL GIRLS!!! This will be the largest class I have ever taught - so far. :-) I am looking forward to whatever new "challenges" may arise with an "all-girl" class!

On the first day of school, I will introduce you to my special lil' girlies, but for now, I just want to share some "getting ready" pictures.

Here is a picture of me trying to organize the classroom:

Ha Ha...Okay, that is a *slight* exaggeration of what it has been like, but after 2 years of not having Kindergarten, that room has become a bit disorganized!.

(And no, I don't have any REAL pictures of me organizing the classroom)

In honor of having an all-girl class, I thought this would be a great year to bring out the baby dolls that have been in storage in my house for quite some time. What a blessing that my sister was "baby doll crazy" when she was little, so I actually have 6 baby dolls to bring to the classroom for my 6 girls!!

I had fun dressing up these cute lil' babies today!
{Oh dear, the "little girl" in me is coming out!}

Of course, babies need to have a place to sleep!

This baby cradle has been in the family for quite some time. My Aunt received it at a Christmas party about 40 years ago! The baby blanket inside the cradle was made by my great-grandma when I was born. I'd rather these be put to good use instead of just stored somewhere. :-)

Ah, yes...not only do babies need a cradle to sleep in, but they also need strollers to ride in. Notice that there will be 6 girls, 6 babies, and only 2 strollers. Hmmmm....well, I can tell that there are going to be a lot of valuable lessons taught about "sharing" and "taking turns" in the near future!

And last but not least, there are all the baby accessories. Every baby needs blankets, clothes, bottles, toys etc.

Oh my! I can only imagine how much fun these girls are going to have with all this baby doll stuff!

~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

But never fear, in case anyone is concerned that there will only be play time and no learning time, this is the first thing I did when I entered the classroom.....

...Organized the curriculum!!!

There will be PLENTY of learning going on inside this classroom :-)

{Can you tell this teacher is excited to be in the classroom again??!!}
