Making Applesauce!

We had so much fun making applesauce today!

We used a special apple cutter to cut up our apples. We were so surprised that we could even put the apple cores in the pot!!

Our apples are all cut up and ready to cook on the stove!!

We were so excited when it was finally time to use Miss Follett's applesauce maker!!! We took turns pushing the cooked apples down into the strainer, cranking out the applesauce, and being the overseer to make sure none of the yucky seeds or skins got in our applesauce.

We were so proud of our finished applesauce!!!

We spooned out all the applesauce into little bowls and served our friends. Everyone seemed to enjoy it!!!

The happy smiles of successful applesauce makers!

Hausman Fruit Farm

We had so much fun at Hausman Fruit Farm today! Our first adventure was going on a hay ride to the pumpkin patch. We got to pick our very own pumpkin!

We then got to pick an apple from the apple orchard!

We enjoyed visiting the sheep and goats!

We had so much fun going through the big corn maze - twice!

Another fun activity was painting the pumpkins we had picked!

Baking Cookies!

One of my favorite activities in the fall is baking caramel stuffed apple cider cookies with my class. Because I have done this particular recipe so many times, I have thankfully figured out a pretty organized way to make this an enjoyable experience for all of us! :-)

Adding our first 2 ingredients - butter and sugar

This recipe calls for 3 cups of flour which works out perfectly for my little class of 3!

We enjoyed mixing all the ingredients together with the mixer!! One girl would hold the mixer, while the next girl in line would spoon some of the flour mixture into the bowl. It was a great lesson in taking turns. :-)

When we were done mixing the dough, we put it in the refrigerator for an hour so it wouldn't be quite so sticky to roll out :-)

Another fun step was unwrapping all the caramels that would go in the center of our cookies!

Very proud of our first rolled out cookie!

Our cookies are ready for the oven!

Our cookies - fresh out of the oven - were a little warm and gooey, but we enjoyed sampling them before we took the rest home to our family!

Apple Baskets!

This past week we did some apple stamping (with real apple halves) and then learned how to weave paper to look like a basket. The girls enjoyed eating the leftover apples when we were done!
