Easter Activities

Yesterday my kiddos and I made Resurrection rolls. It was a simple (but YUMMY) activity with a deeper meaning.

We took a marshmallow (which represented Jesus because He is white without sin) and we dipped it in melted butter and cinnamon sugar (which represents how after Jesus died his body was anointed with oil and spices). Then we wrapped crescent roll dough around it (which represented how His body was wrapped in linen clothes). After we baked them, we opened up the roll and the marshmallow was gone. The inside was empty! (which represented the empty tomb after Jesus rose from the grave conquering sin and death forever!!)

While we waited for the rolls to bake, we made Easter bracelets. Each bead represented part of the Easter story:

Green - the palm branches people waved at Jesus when He rode through the city
Purple - the wine/grape juice Jesus and his disciples drank at the Lord's supper
Yellow - the money Judas received for betraying Jesus
Red - the blood Jesus shed for us
Black - Jesus died on the cross because our hearts are black with sin
Brown - once Jesus died he was taken off the cross and put in a tomb
White - on the 3rd day Jesus rose from the dead!!!
